SE Tennessee Offgrid

So we have a piece of land. 2 years ago the local power company came out and told us that to get power to our homesite would be $25k, but that based on the size of the house it would be covered. We were not ready to start building and they told us to get back with them when we were ready. That way we would not have to pay the $25k. They said from the time they put in the power we had 2 years to build and if we got it done in that time they would reimburse the money.

At that point we were just trying to get infrastructure in place like well, septic, and power.

Anyway, so yesterday the power company came back out. They said the program has changed and that they would only give a $10k allowance, but that the prices have skyrocketed and that the install could be anywhere up to $65k for the power infrastructure to get installed.

That said we are considering Solar as we only had $25k to front the project with the expectation we would get the money back when the build was done.

How feasible would it be to go fully solar with a backup propane generator for emergency? The house is about 4000 square feet. We do plan to burn a lot of wood during the winter. Anyone done this in SE Tennessee?
