Connecting a SolarEdge setapp inverter to wifi in North America.

Current solar installer here in the US and more and more I come across situations where if I could just connect the SolarEdge inverter to the homeowners wifi it would save everyone a lot of trouble. I know this feature is not available in the US and for the life of me cannot understand why.

Curious if anyone has figured out a work around to make this work in the US. We had an install where the inverter would not go through its normal activation on first start up and gave the option to setup communications so SE support could help activate. Upon selecting wifi all the networks in the area suddenly appeared. Hooked it up to the homeowners wifi, had support activate the inverter, and the wifi network stayed connected giving me S_ok. Had it running on their WiFi for about a year until they got a new internet provider and needed me to update te network for them. On site, went to configure wifi and no longer was able to see any wifi networks.

It seems like once the inverter goes through its activation, it takes that feature away. Curious if anyone has been able to figure out a workaround as this would solve a lot of problems for my customers who use cellular Hotspots, wifi extenders, or just flat out don’t have any more ethernet ports available on their router.
