Substantial Differentials Between EnergySage vs. Other Options

Central New Jersey if it matters.

I recently had consultations with 2 solar companies (Momentum Solar & ‘MyEnergyPal’) with pretty similar offerings. At a high level: ~65% energy offset, ~35 panels, and total cost (pre incentives) of ~$58k.

Then I read here to give EnerySage a shot, so I did. The first three quotes that I’ve gotten (Green Power Energy, Steve Whitman Solar, Ad Energy) seem too good to be true – all are >80% energy offset, the highest total cost is just ~$42k, and roughly the same # of panels (between 33-41).

Sooo what gives? I’m trying really hard to understand the factors that give rise to such drastic differences (between my first 2 consultations and the EnergySage quotes), but I’m at a loss.

Sorry if I’ve left out any key information – I’m a bit green to all this.
