Waterproofing underlayment and plywood thickness of roof for solar install

Advertisements

I’m getting quotes for a new roof as part of getting ready for a new solar install and one roofer I talked to mentioned some solar guys require a 5/8” plywood thickness for the part upholding the panels. Was going to ask our solar guys about it but was curious is anyone else has heard about this?

Also one roofer suggested to upgrade the underlayment where the panels were going to go to a waterproofing one over the standard one, does anyone have any experience with that regarding whether than seemed worthwhile or necessary?
