Changing combiner box/disconnect location during install?

Are there any pros here who’d know? Location: California.

I am currently getting solar. Needed 200A panel upgrade which ended up being huge hassle on a 100 year old house. The plan is to move main service panel to the front of the house and then combiner box/disconnect right next to it. From there the connection through the basement onto the roof.

Panels are already on the roof, main service panel upgraded but combiner box, disconnect are not mounted yet, no connections have been made and no inspections done.

Today I talked to an electrician and he brought up that if I wanted to upgrade with a battery that wouldn’t even work on the current location. Combiner box and disconnect would need to be moved to a different wall where the battery is. Now I actually would really prefer this regardless of the battery because all these stupid boxes mess up the nice front side of the house. At least having only the main service panel there and the combiner box/disconnect on a side wall would be a huge win for me. Note that this would be where the cable to the panels would go anyway.

Questions:

• Is it too late to change this in this stage of the project?
• What can I do to still change it?

Before I bring this up with my installer (they will likely not be amused) I would like to know if this is even possible and if so what kind of issues it entails because if I just ask, there will for sure be lots of push back to which I’d like to be able to respond.
