How can I get data from a battery system via rs485 for solar setup?

Advertisements

  • There is a chinese made 48v 100ah lifepo4 battery
  • There is battery management software for it, via Windows, and connect from USB on computer to rs485 on the battery
  • Say I wanted to make a small arduino/raspberry pi/dongle device that that plugs into the rs485 and can broadcast the data via bluetooth, wifi, something..
  • Is there any proper way to try to get the data in the first place? There seems to be at least 50 values in the BMS windows program, and im wondering how the heck I would even start with this…for example is there an API-like thing that I can run to get data from the battery system or am I screwed and this is only doable by the manufacturer?
