We have to do an MPU as part of our solar install (Enphase IQ8-series). I’m curious if there are any particular features we should explicitly have on our contract.
We don’t need a battery or sunlight-only backup for now, but would be interested in bidirectional EV charging in the future.
We can’t afford a Span, but wouldn’t be opposed to spending $2-500 more for main panel features that are a bit more future friendly.
The current outdoor main panel is 100A, and it feeds to another 100A subpanel indoors.
Should we get a “critical load panel” installed? Or is our indoor subpanel good enough for that purpose?
I’ve also seen main load centers that are marketed as “generator ready”, including a separate bottom section for critical loads. Are those any good/worth requesting?
