Got the free solar panels installed on my roof!

Nah just kidding, nothing is free. Don’t fall for scams!

I wanted to give you a quick rundown of the installation process here in NJ (Newark), including costs, estimated savings, and a tip on getting the best quote.

The installation took a few days. A professional team assessed my roof’s suitability and mounted a 6-kilowatt solar system, consisting of about 18 panels. The total cost, including panels, equipment, and labor, came out to around $33,750. Keep in mind that prices can vary based on system size and specific equipment. I went with SolarOptimum for those curious, not affiliated in any way.

To make it more affordable, I opted for a 15-year loan with a 5% interest rate. This translates to a monthly payment of approximately $308. Exploring financing options is crucial to finding a plan that suits your budget.

Now, let’s talk about the estimated savings. With my system, I anticipate cutting my monthly electricity bills by around 50%. Based on my energy usage, I estimate annual savings of about $1,800. That’s a substantial amount that can be reinvested elsewhere.

I used a site called QuoteMatch for comparing quotes. I highly recommend shopping around and comparing offers. I reached out to multiple solar companies and found that prices varied significantly. By doing thorough research and negotiating, I managed to secure the best quote, saving about 15% compared to the initial offer.
