San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE) – Split into two accounts before PTO!

Advertisements

I am new to solar in San Diego with SDGE. My SDGE bill is now all wonky. I just got off the phone with them. Their remedy is to split the gas into a seperate account.

I will now get two bills a month. Once for gas, and one for electricity. The gas is due every month. The electric is due annually at true-up time (I am NEM 2.0).

What happened is that they applied 100% of my last month’s payment to the electical side. This left the gas side showing that I owed them $190. And my electric side showing that I have $185 in credit. The woman on the phone said that they have a known problem with payment allocation and they they are working on fixing it.

I don’t believe that they will fix it. So you need to call them after going solar and segregate your electric and gas accounts.

It will be interesting to see how long it take them to fix the gas balance. They claim they won’t charge me late fees or ding my credit. I am not holding my breath.

I regret not making this split prior to get PTO. That would have prevented this mess.
