The Congress on Tuesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort and calling it “crass election speech filled with distortions, lies, exaggerations and vague promises”. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, lashed out at the PM in a speech at the party headquarters while MP Jairam Ramesh took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to air their views about the PM’s speech.
