Country’s coal import drops by 5% to 125.21 MT in Apr-Sep 2023; production through auction and commercial coal auction prevents need to import 150 MT; government measures aim to enhance domestic coal production for self-reliance and reduce dependence on imports; coal production increased by 14.77% in 2022-23; coal production target for current year is 1,012.14 MT; CIL aims to produce one billion tonnes by 2025-26.
