Over the first few months of 2024, I received a bunch of quotes for solar panels near Columbus, Ohio. I wanted to share and pass along what I received to hopeful help anyone else in the area. All prices are for ground mounts (which are more expensive than a roof system) other than BlueRaven.
SunPower: 24 410w REC Alpha Pure panels, Enphase IQ7+, APA ready rack ground mount, $36,000
Koskosing Solar: 22 Qcell Qtron 420w, Enphase IQ8A, APA ready rack ground mount, $36,000
Vespa Solar: 24 MSolar 410w panels, AP systems DS3-S microinverters, Unirac ground mount, about $36,000. They also offered REC Alpha Pure panels for an additional $1,500.
Ohio Power Solutions: 24 410w REC Alpha Pure, Enphase IQ8+, APA ready ready or ballasted ground mount, about $33,000. They also offered SilFab or Qcell panels for about $2,000 less.
Green Rack Solar: 24 405w REC Alpha Pure, Enphase IQ8A, APA ready rack, about $31,500.
Village Solar Co: 30 400w REC NP3, Enphase IQ8+, APA ready rack, about $33,500.
EcoHouse Solar: They stated they didn’t want to install the ground mount where I wanted it and were not interested in the job. As such, I did not see a price. They were friendly but I kind of felt like they were wasting my time.
BlueRaven: They would not do ground mounts. They quoted about $30,000 for 24 405w QCells panels on the roof. They were the pushiest of all the businesses I worked with.
Most business quoted the addition of a battery, usually the Tesla PowerWall2, for around $13-17,000 additional.
I received a few other quotes via Energy Sage that were no better than these offers. I have since deleted my account and cannot provide the exact figures from those proposals.
I ended up going with a custom ground setup with Village Solar Co which added a few thousand to the price (tamarack top of pole mount). It has not yet been installed but I can update the post once they’ve completed the job. They are also going to add two Enphase 5p batteries for about $11,000.
