Hi everyone, I have this SolarEdge HD Wave inverter, and 400AH 48V battery ready to go.
I’m really struggling to get my head around the SolarEdge product line… it’s a mess!
As far as I can tell, SolarEdge seem to push 600V HV batteries, but in one product webpage it says “Supports RESU/LG Chem high voltage batteries, and 48V batteries from a variety of vendors”. It then goes on to never mention 48V batteries again.
SolarEdge also have a product “SolarEdge Home Battery Low Voltage (48V)” in their lineup, so it looks like if they actually sell branded 48V batteries, then these must be compatible with their inverters.
Now, there are heaps of inverters, and they all keep changing. I have a HD Wave, and it seems that it is NOT a hybrid inverter or a battery ready inverter like basically every other inverter on the market from literally every other manufacturer including the cheap Chinese ones.
It looks like I need to add a “StorEdge Interface” to connect the battery, and also an “Advanced Home Backup” interface to perform the grid isolation.
This is pretty crazy… but my trouble comes when I look at the “StorEdge Interface” product spec, and it only mentions HV batteries anywhere! Is this device 48V compatible like the StorEdge inverter advertising?
Also, it’s not clear that the “Advanced Home Backup” product is compatible with all inverters in the line, is it compatible with the HD Wave?
Can anybody in the know please help demystify their product line for me? It’s chaos, and I’m becoming quite disappointed I accepted SolarEdge on the recommendation of my solar installer… they are so anti-consumer. I can’t access SetApp without an installer license account, and the battery situation seems to be trying to exclude regular batteries in favour of theirs and their partners over-priced brands.
