I am installing a 71 panel system with IQ7 micros (26 kW), and two SPAN panels (currently have two 150 am main panels). I will be backing up one of the SPAN panels with three batteries. The question is the batteries, either IQ10T or Powerwall. My installer recommends the PW due to the SPAN integration. However, from what I read the Enphase system (micros, batteries, controller) do a better job at managing PV/Battery during an outage. If there no SPAN panels, I would go all Enphase. Enphase does not yet have, and has no ETA for, SPAN integration as of this month. My question, for anyone who has an Enphase microinverter system with Tesla Powerwall batteries/Gateway, how does the PW/Gateway manage PV during an outage, and are you happy with how it works? It seems the PW/IQ combination would be similar to any other PW/PV inverter (other than Tesla PV) where the PW shuts down the PV all together, wasting solar energy during grid down. Is that true, and if so, is really that big of a deal or does some PV still get used by the home when available in during grid down? Thank you for the feedback.
