I’m getting conflicting info on how permission to operate (PTO) is approved with PG&E in Central California. On 2/6, I signed my solar contract for a 11.62 kW add-on system (currently have a 8.4 kW system). On 2/24, installer applies for city permit. On 3/4, PG&E interconnection application signed. On 3/16, city approves permit. On 3/22 Panels and inverters were installed. Installer said it takes about 2 weeks for PG&E to come out to physically assess meter? (Although I already have a Smartmeter with my 2 year old solar system?) I called the PG&E to ask about the app status, they said I’m already locked into NEM2, passed the initial review, but now they’re still reviewing the “documents.” I asked if the Final City inspection was submitted by installer – they said no. I called the installer, they said PG&E has not sent the pre-approval e-mail for the installer to submit the final permit. I called PG&E back and they said they’re still reviewing the project, and I asked if the installer can still submit the final permit while PG&E is still reviewing the project – the rep said that should help expedite the PTO. I let my installer know and they said they’ll get back to me.
So at this point, what exactly is PG&E reviewing? Do they need to come out to assess my Smart-meter? Why did my installer tell me they have to wait for a pre-approval email before he submits the approved city inspection? What can I do to expedite the PTO process? Any insight or personal experience about this is appreciated.
