Solar quote with Solar Renewable Energy Certificate

Advertisements

Hi,

I am in Texas and a Solar installer sent me a quote for a 10KW system with Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC)

I see some threads on Reddit where owners selling Energy credits to states but this quote is about selling it at the time of installation. Also read that SREC is only for big (>1000 kw) systems.

All these things are confusing.

Below are the quote details.

System Size – 10KW

System price = $65000

Fed Tax Credit @ 30% = $23100

Solar Renewal Energy Certificate = $43900

Net System cost after FED Tax credit = $10000

Cash due to at the time of signing contract = Net System cost + Fed Tax credit = 23100+ 10000 = $33100

The Net system price they offered is at $1 / w which I havent seen from any other installers.

Out of this quote, SREC is the part where I am getting Fed Tax credit but I was told that I dont need to pay it. so confused on how all this works.

Please help me understand this.
