Solar Edge (HD-Wave) Backup Interface

Has anyone used the backup interface with the legacy HD-Wave inverters? I am looking at the backup interface, as I am adding a generator. Not planning on batteries at the moment. I found a support article that said the backup interface is compatible, but not much else. Looking through the documentation for the backup interface it connects via RS-485, as well as a 12v connection, which I am not sure if the lebacy HD-Wave inverters have a connection for.
